A Business Owner's Safe Harbor in an Unpredictable World
I have been President/CEO of six companies, taken three public, and been on the boards of over 30 companies, and Christine is the best financial professional that I have worked with.”
Robert R. MacDonald
Former CEO, Ovation Products Corporation
The needs of a small business frequently extend well beyond the services provided by an accountant or bookkeeper, but do not justify the expense of a full-time CFO or Controller. The initial design of financial systems and corporate policy may not seem significant during the launch of your business, but their proper implementation frequently spells the difference between success and failure. A seasoned professional can manage such tasks and provide high-level expertise to a company that is not quite ready for a full-time employee and the accompanying expenses.
When I was a full-time CFO, I was always concerned with the open-ended expense of long-term contractors. As an Interim CFO Services provider, it is important to me that you are able to predict and manage your expenses, and not get into arrangements that unexpectedly expand in scope.
I have over 25 years of experience servicing early stage and small companies' short-term needs as well as a solid history of full-time roles in larger, established companies.
My financial management roles have encompassed business planning, team management, financial analysis, and technical accounting. I served over 10 years as a full-time Chief Financial Officer in both public and private companies, and have in-depth, hands-on experience with fundraising, going public, investor relations, managing business growth and contraction, team development and human resources management. My roles in public companies have provided me with an intensive SEC reporting background, investor relations, and strong accounting skills. A strong teambuilder and mentor, I have led teams both large and small, and have developed a reputation of integrity and ethical leadership.
My breadth of experience spans a wide array of businesses, from hardware and software, internet, manufacturing, retail, professional services, biotechnology, private wealth, and customer service. After receiving my MBA in Finance from Babson College, I began my career at Wang Laboratories and slowly migrated to smaller and smaller companies until focused entirely on early stage and small business, where my interim practice is centered.
I have been featured in CFO Magazine, and have contributed to multiple financial newsletters and articles. I also served as a coach with Babson College's Coaching for Leadership and Teamwork program.
I have been an adjunct professor in the Business Department at Cape Cod Community College, and have provided financial educational seminars for WE CAN and the Community Development Partnership. My volunteer activities have included Intern Coordinator for the Chatham Anglers Baseball team, Treasurer of First Night Chatham, and Treasurer of the Massachusetts Military Support Foundation. I currently serve as Treasurer for the Cape Cod Military Support Foundation and Chatham Garden Club.
